9 hours have passed since he read my last text on our Imessage chat. All my calls and messages to him have gone unanswered.
This is strange because he has never ignored a call or message from me since this thing between us started.
In the first 3 hours of his silence, I was reeling from the high of having the last say in the mini argument we had in the early hours of today.
I decided his silence was music to my ears.
“Good riddance to bad rubbish”.
Or so, I thought.
7 hours in and my palms had become sweaty, I was restless and almost going berserk. Where was he? He was not active on any of our chatting platforms.
Cynthia, his assistant, said he had not gotten into work today.
This sparked warning bells in my head.
We left for work together in silence this morning. He dropped me off and headed to his own work place which was just down the hall.
How could he not be at work? Where could have gone to?.
8 hours in and holy anger had descended on me.
What was so wrong in him acknowledging me as his girlfriend at work? Why did we have to hide our relationship at work ?
Who were we hiding from? This was not secondary school anymore!
Prancing about like he’s single feels like my head is being bashed on concrete repeatedly.
In the beginning of our rendezvous, the secrecy was exhilarating, I felt wild.
But It’s 6 months now and I can’t even buy him a surprise lunch without him going crazy.
Another valentine is about to go down WITHOUT flowers or chocolate and for the Love of God…
… “NOT ANOTHER TRUMPET NOISE!” I scream in anger as I see a procession of flowers, balloons, and cake coming into my department hall.
The procession stopped and over 20 pair of eyes look at me in shock.
Uh oh.
“Sorry”, I said to everyone, smiling embarrassingly at them.
This was all Yomi’s fault. Was it really so hard for Yomi to do this little thing for me?
“Miss Simi” Ayo, the new intern interrupts my thoughts
I turn my attention to her and realize for the first time that Yomi is standing in front of the procession of flowers and cakes.
Shocked, I begin to stutter as Yomi proceeds to go down on one kneels.
Oh my God, oh my God…
“Babe wake up, we’re going to be late for work”
Huh…?
“Simi… I have a meeting with the client from Angola today remember? We need to get ready”
I let out a soft groan.
“Wake up sleepy head”, Feranmi, my husband of two years presses his lips to my head.
Feranmi.. My husband.. of two years.
I sigh deeply. Just another night fantasizing about the new BM at the office
“I’m up I’m up, good morning”
